About Us
As an artist-run gallery incorporated in 1982, Kingston
is Bostons second-oldest cooperative gallery. Taking
its name from its original location on Kingston Street in
Chinatown, Kingston Gallery was one of the earliest art
galleries to relocate to Thayer Street, becoming part of
the artistically burgeoning SOWA district of Bostons
historic South End.
Kingston Gallery is governed and staffed by dues-paying,
exhibiting artist-members who showcase a broad range of
contemporary art. Our current roster of artists includes:

In addition to solo and group shows, which are frequently
covered by the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Art New England,
ArtsMedia and other publications.
Kingston also offers its Center Gallery space to non-member
artists interested in mounting month-long shows to coincide
with exhibitions in the main gallery.
Associate Membership is a new category of membership for
the Kingston Gallery. This invitational group was selected by the membership to expand the Gallery's
contact with artists and to encourage new art in our community.
The Associate Members will have their own group show in August, 2010

Membership
Since its inception more than twenty years ago, Kingston
Gallery has provided its artist-members with opportunities
to exhibit work, join a community of fellow artists, and
participate in the gallerys operation. We welcome
artists living and working in Greater Boston to apply for
membership.
In addition to a solo show every eighteen-to-twenty four
months and participation in a group show every year, another
benefit of becoming a member of Kingston Gallery is having
a voice in the gallerys operations and mission.
Membership responsibilities are minimal and include attendance
at monthly meetings, staffing the gallery once or twice
per month, and $80 per month dues. (A one-time commitment
fee of $200 is payable upon acceptance as a member.)
Slides (or jpegs) of applicants work are reviewed at the gallerys
monthly meetings by all members, and new artist-members
are selected by a majority vote. Kingston periodically has openings for new members.
