Emerging Arts Writer Residency

Emerging Arts Writer Residency

Application Submissions Currently Closed
Duration: 14 months residency

The Kingston Gallery is pleased to announce the second year of our Emerging Arts Writer Residency. The Emerging Writer position is open to writers who have completed a BFA, MFA or BA in Art, Art History, Criticism, Curatorial Studies, Journalism or other related disciplines.

This opportunity intended to act as a stepping stone for an emerging arts writer early in their career and offers the opportunity to join a community of practicing artists, to write and publish critical essays on art exhibits, as well as other writing on the arts of your choosing. The residency provides a platform for publishing and contributing to the cultural dialog in Boston.

The essays will discuss the Kingston Gallery exhibits, reflect discussions with Kingston gallery artists about their artwork, and contextualize their work and exhibitions in the larger contemporary art discourse, art history, and current world issues as they relate to the artists' endeavors.

The residency will start August 15, 2021 beginning with two months to get to know the gallery members, and learn about the Boston arts community at large. During this period and beyond, engaging with the gallery community, monthly meetings and studio visits with gallery artists are strongly encouraged.

The Emerging Arts Writer will be required to write two essays each month for the Gallery's blog working closely with the gallery artists, gallery mentors, and the Kingston Gallery Marketing Director.
